How to import DXF into Adobe Illustrator

Die Cut Templates offers DXF files in 2 different units: mm and inches. You can download files in your preferred unit by simply selecting the unit on the dielines page as follows. (eg ' see a a dieline page ')




When downloading in millimeters and importing into Adobe Illustrator.

If the DXF you downloaded is in millimeters, you need to give this information to Adobe Illustrator. In order to do this, first, you need to set the default unit to millimeters.
1 - Find the "settings" menu and "default unit" and set the default unit as follows.



After setting the default unit, now you can import the DXF file. Simply open the file in Adobe Illustrator and you will be greeted with an import settings page.

2 - Select Original size and 1 unit = 1 millimeters as follows.





That's it!

When downloading in inches and importing into illustrator

Simply follow the same steps above but: Select your default unit as inches






and when importing the file, make sure to select 1 unit = 1 inches as follows.
